Guidance

As the Guidance Counselor of the Dudley Family School, my primary goal is to promote and enhance student learning. It is my task to consult and collaborate with teachers, parents, and administrators to assist students to succeed academically, socially, and personally. More specifically, it is my duty to help students adjust to elementary and middle school, discover and nurture their talents, help them to make responsible decisions, set goals, and cope with problems involving school, friends, and/or family. It is also my responsibility to monitor and foster the individual progress of each student by participating in team meetings with teachers, facilitating tutoring/mentoring programs and participate in the Intervention and Referral Services Team (IR&S Team) which identifies and works to address the needs of at-risk students. In an effort to help students achieve success academically, socially, and personally, I will engage students in individual, small group, and crisis counseling as needed.

Students may visit the Guidance Office at any time, as long as they have a hall pass. If any student has an urgent problem and the counselor is not available, the student should report to the main office. In an effort to help students make the most of their school experience, I will encourage and facilitate communications between home and school. Parents with questions or concerns regarding their child should feel free to contact the Guidance office at any time.

Sincerely,

Edward W. Brown
